NYIGA Advanced Gang Specialist Certification Course

 

The course will be taught by an expert in the field of youth violence and gangs.  This course is open to all persons who have successfully completed the NYGIA Basic Gang Specialist Certification Course.

 

Course Outline:

·        This course will provide current trends on gangs in the United States as well as;

·        Advanced Graffiti Interpretation

·        Advanced Tattoo Identification

·        The internet and social networking websites;

·        Gangs and Terrorism;

·        Intervention and Prevention techniques;

·        School Safety Concerns;

·        This course will also prepare individuals to testify in court.

 

Duration of course: 5 hours

 

A 100-question written examination must be successfully completed.  There must be a minimum grade of 85% (85) attained on the examination to pass.  Students who do not achieve at least 85% on the exam will be allowed to review their exam and re-take the exam one (1) time. However, if the student does not pass the re-take, they will NOT receive a certificate or any other items associated with successfully completing the course. There is a one (1) hour time limit for exam.

 

If the person passes the exam their name will be added to a database showing that they have passed the NYGIA Basic and Advanced Gang Specialist Certification class.  This information will be kept on record and a certified letter can be requested to be sent to any organization or court in New YorkState showing that you have successfully completed the course.

 

This class is only open to the first 100 people who register for the class.  The class will be given on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at the Sheraton-Syracuse University Hotel and ConferenceCenter; at a fee of a $125 per person (members) and $150 (non members).  (MEMBERS: Please contact Lianne Archer, 2nd Vice President for online payment options at 914 830 9994)
